Payroll coordinator
Contract, Up to 1 Year - Non Union

 
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the payroll process for the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, providing support to the Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting as well as ensuring compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, collective bargaining agreements, policies and procedures.


Key areas of Responsibility:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of data processed through the payroll system. This includes, overtime, vacation payouts, mileage allowances, annual increments, retroactive payments and other amounts as required; 
  • Responsible for preparation and reconciliation of payroll remittances and deductions (i.e. EHT, CPP, EI, WSIB, union dues, employee paid benefit payments); 
  • Responsible for the preparation and reconciliations of T4s, T4A, and the public sector salary disclosure; 
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of Records of Employment (ROE); 
  • Responsible for the administration of OMERS; 
  • Responsible for the administration of pay garnishments; 
  • Responsible for addressing payroll related concerns from WECHU staff. 

Position Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:
  • Certified Canadian Payroll Practitioner strongly preferred; 
  • Group Pension administration strongly preferred; 
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is preferred; 
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus (2) years of post-secondary education in Accounting or other related discipline from a Community College or University or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
  • Must have 3 years of experience as a Payroll Coordinator or similar role, preferably in an organization with 250 staff or greater.
